My journey has slowed down due in part to the cold weather. Hope to pick up again when it is more consistently sunny.
My next stop on the District Line eastwards is Barking. It is a busy town with facilities and retail shops.

East Ham
East Ham is situated in South East London in the Borough of Newham. Housing in East Ham consists of Victorian and Edwardian terraced town houses. West Ham United FC is on the western border of East Ham and the eastern border of Upton Park. It is a buslting town with lots of retail shops.

Upton Park
Upton Park is fairly busy town with retail shops on both sides of the main street. It is also home to West Ham football stadium. The large market and shops are predominantly Asian including the newly built East shopping mall.

Plaistow
Plaistow situated in the Borough of Newham is a residential area including several council estates. If there is a large shopping centre it is not within walking distance of the tube station. Shops for local residents on both sides of the High Street were the ones I saw.
West Ham
West Ham was a bit of a disappointment. I was expecting it to be a busy town with a football stadium but it is not within the area. The town consists of residential houses with few shops. It is quite dead.
Bromley-by-Bow
Bromley-by-Bow is situated in the Borough of Tower Hamlets in East London. It is a very small town between Bow and Poplar. Lots of high rise and run down buildings in the area.
